Repair of Frame 9 exhaust stack at Alaoji generation station

  • Damage Assessment and Inspection:
We performed a thorough inspection of the Frame 9 exhaust stack to identify areas affected by corrosion, structural degradation, cracks, and leaks. Using visual inspections, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, and thermal imaging, we evaluated the extent of the damage and its impact on the exhaust system's performance.
  • Engineering Analysis and Repair Plan:
After the inspection, our engineering team analyzed to determine the best repair approach. A detailed repair plan was developed, outlining the materials required, structural reinforcements, and the appropriate welding and sealing techniques to be used, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards.
  • Fabrication and Replacement of Damaged Components:
Where necessary, damaged sections of the exhaust stack were replaced with new, high-quality components fabricated to match the original specifications. These included metal panels, support structures, and insulation materials designed to withstand high temperatures and exhaust flow.
  • Welding and Structural Reinforcement:
Our skilled technicians carried out welding repairs on cracks and weakened sections of the exhaust stack. Structural reinforcements were added to enhance the overall stability and integrity of the stack, ensuring it could withstand operational stresses and environmental factors.
  • Corrosion Protection and Coating:
To prevent future corrosion and extend the life of the exhaust stack, we applied high-temperature-resistant coatings to the repaired areas. This protective layer shields the metal from moisture, chemicals, and extreme heat, reducing the likelihood of future damage.
  • System Testing and Inspection:
Upon completion of the repairs, the exhaust stack was subjected to a series of tests to verify the success of the repairs. We conducted pressure tests, thermal monitoring, and vibration analysis to ensure the exhaust stack was functioning properly and that there were no leaks or structural weaknesses.
  • Maintenance Recommendations:
We provided the Alaoji Generation Station with guidelines for ongoing maintenance to ensure the longevity of the repaired exhaust stack. This included regular inspections, cleaning, and touch-up applications of the protective coatings to mitigate corrosion and wear.
